Laura Brady has been making beautiful ebooks at Brady Type for years. As she grows with the ever-changing digital landscape, she shares her insights with the world, often leading the popular #eprdctn hour on Twitter. Every successful ebook developer has already benefitted from Laura’s wisdom, perhaps indirectly. Laura’s recent explorations into integrating accessibility into beautiful design will benefit readers of all types.
Working on a short deadline for an important client, Laura really came through, responding quickly and coming in on-budget. Laura is an excellent designer, and I would easily recommend her as one of the premier ebook producers in Canada.
I had the pleasure of working with Laura on behalf of a number of important flePub and ePub projects and was impressed with the way that she married a flair for design and layout from the traditional publishing world with the integrated skill to create a seamless and beautiful eBook. Her work is high quality, and she delivers every time. I look forward to working with her again.
Laura did all the design work on my book Resilient Woman. She was a pleasure to work with — unflappable, creative, thoughtful. I am thrilled with the final product; it looks great both in hard copy and on all electronic platforms. She combines artistic talent with deep technical knowledge in a rapidly evolving field, and on top of all that can communicate clearly with clients. I recommend her highly.
Laura is so, so good at what she does! She is the only out-of-house eBook Producer I would trust with my content. She is fast, knowledgeable and extremely easy to work with.
Working with Laura is simply a treat. She is intelligent and creative, has an amazing eye for detail, and is constantly keeping her skills up-to-date. She was the obvious choice when we were looking for someone to help out with our e-books!
Laura has always been ahead of the curve in design and typesetting technology. From the early ’90s until now she’s moved effortlessly from SGML to Quark to Creative Suite and epub — never reactively but in anticipation of her clients’ needs. I've benefitted greatly over the years from Laura’s skills, talents, and fantastically dry sense of humour. As both a colleague and freelancer she's been a pleasure to work with.
Laura and I worked together under intense time pressure to prepare a final commission report for printing. Her ability to keep a complicated large-group working situation under her full control while producing entirely clean pages of complex layout is exemplary. I recommend Laura without hesitation.
No other designer I’ve used brings the same intelligence and flair to the work as Laura Brady. She’s conscientious, of course, but it's her smart approach to typesetting that really sets her apart. Typesetting is an art even in this computer age. Laura understands that art.
